The Manor House of the Future" campaign was initiated by Realdania in 2008. Together with the owners of the manor houses, the campaign devises ways in which the manor houses can once again drive rural developments. Borreby's owner, Joachim Castenschiold, wishes to preserve the renaissance complex in particular. This will be achieved by converting some of the listed buildings of the home farm into a theatre. The idea is to make Borreby into a cultural dynamo for the area and Denmark's only permanent "manor castle theatre".
