The clothing factory is a large building complex covering more than 12,000 square metres. The wings surround a courtyard, giving the appearance of a manor house. Semidetached houses for the employees were built near the factory. Part of the building was listed in 1982, and it has since been renovated and converted into an industrial park. After 250 years of industry, today modern companies lease offices at The Royal Military Clothing Factory. The park and forest are used by its tenants and local residents. The transformation into modern offices and an oasis of greenery is a prime example of how industrial sites can be reused. The listed buildings were awarded a Europa Nostra Award in 1987, and Usserød Clothing Factory is now one of 25 industrial heritage sites of national significance.
