Out and about
In Norway, they have a saying they use when the going gets tough: "Out and about – and you won't pout". We would like to pass on this advice.
Many of the 25 industries selected are now closed and reused for new purposes such as the Carlsberg brewery in Valby Hill or the Lolland Beet Sugar Refinery. Some industries have been converted into museums such as Hjorts Terracotta Factory in Rønne or Hjedding Cooperative Dairy near Ølgod. Some are still bubbling with life like the distillery in Aalborg or the steelworks in Frederiksværk.
We have made a guide for each location in pdf format that you are welcome to print out and take with you and your family, partner or friends when exploring the country in search of new experiences and knowledge. We don't have mountains like Norway that can calm the soul – but the sights and sounds of all 25 industries conjure up a very special atmosphere so prick up your ears and hear all the interesting stories and then have fun getting out and about exploring.
