Legislation
The responsibilities of Heritage Agency of Denmark are primarily regulated by two acts:
- The Consolidated Listed Buildings and Preservation of Buildings and Urban Environments Act no. 1088
- The Museum Act no. 1505, which covers museums and archaeological sites and monuments.
The tasks of the Heritage Agency are set out in:
The Acts and Executive Orders have been translated into English.
The Heritage Agency also houses the secretariat of the Danish Commission on Export of Cultural Assets. The Commission administers:
- The Act on Export of Cultural Assets in Denmark (not translated into English).
- Executive Order No. 404 on Protection of Cultural Assets in Denmark
- The Act on the Return of Cultural Objects Unlawfully Removed from the Territory of a Member State (not translated into English).
Finally, the Heritage Agency can provide a list of all international conventions relating to cultural heritage that Denmark has ratified.
