Organisation

The Heritage Agency is one out of three governing bodies under the Danish Ministry of Culture. The Heritage Agency undertakes the following tasks in its five divisions and staff:

Listed Buildings

  • Listing and delisting of buildings
  • Restoration and construction work on listed buildings
  • Administration of the Heritage Agency's own listed buildings

Ancient Monuments

  • Listing and protecting sites and monuments

Municipality and Planning

  • Central and local planning
  • New projects in collaboration with local authorites and private partnerships

Museums

  • Coordination and quality assessment of museums
  • Funding and development of museums into local knowledge centers

Preservation of Buildings and Monuments

  • Restoration of megalithic tombs and ruins and of the buildings owned by the Heritage Agency
  • Supervision of protected sites and monuments
  • Restoration policy
  • International co-operation

  • Assistance to the Direction and Management
  • Internal and external communication
  • HR management and finance
  • Heritage database development
