Denmark has three sites on the World Heritage List, and the Arctic island of Greenland, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, has one site on the List.

The World Heritage List is maintained by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Denmark will contribute to the World Heritage Committee

Denmark will be a canditate for membership of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee when new members are to be elected at the 18th General Assembly of the World Heritage Convention in 2011. You can download information about the Danish views and contributions in this pamphlet:

UNESCO CONVENTION

UNESCO seeks to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world considered to be of outstanding value to humanity. This was embodied in an international treaty, adopted by UNESCO in 1972:
