New proposals

UNESCO encourages States Parties to the Convention to nominate sites within their national territory for inclusion on the World Heritage List. 

The Heritage Agency of Denmark submits proposals for sites in Denmark and Greenland for inclusion on the World Heritage List.

In 2009, Denmark proposed these sites for inscription on the World Heritage List:

  • 1000 Years of agriculture in The Arctic, Southern Greenland (culture)
  • Aasivissuit and Arnagarnup Qoorua, hunting area in Greenland (culture)
  • Christiansfeld (culture)
  • Amalienborg Castle and its districts (culture)
  • Moler landscapes , Northern Mors (nature)
  • Eremitage Hunting Lodge and hunting grounds in North Zealand (culture landscape)
  • Stevns Cliff, Zealand (nature)
  • The Wadden Sea Region, South Jutland (culture and nature)
  • The Viking Age ring fortresses in Trelleborg (culture)
